Local Phone Number Options Available to You

Even with the advent of mobile telephones, it is still necessary for us to contact landlines numbers occasionally. Whilst most of us use mobile to mobile calls most of the time, you will find that a lot of businesses still have a landline number that you have to contact them on.

For a lot of us, this is actually a reassuring feature. I know myself that looking at a mobile contact number for a business fills me with suspicion. I have heard too many stories of people being stung by fraudsters who use mobile numbers as contact numbers; you can ring and ring them and get no reply!

Businesses will use a variety of telephone numbers for customers to be able to contact them. One thing you do need to be aware of is Premium Rate numbers. These are often used for competitions, gambling and adult entertainment – and can cost a fortune per minute. Most businesses will have a freephone number or a Local Phone Number for you to use. The local phone number will be one that uses the same dialling (STD) code as the area in which you live. This means that you can rest assured that you will not be paying through the nose when you call them. It will cost the same as phoning a friend, family member or colleague who shares the same dialling code as you.

You can find out whether a business has a local phone number by using a telephone directory. You can use either a paper phone book or one of the many directories that are available online. For example, if you wished to find a certain gifts retailer, then it is very easy to do so online. Type in the name, location and address (if known) into the search section of the directory and it will bring up the options available to you for your area.
